Material ConneXion

Material ConneXion was founded in New York in 1997 by George Beylerian. The project has created a worldwide organization with a permanent independent observatory focused on innovation, design and sustainability, supervised by a board of independent experts who are looking all over the world for materials, products and projects that can fully reflect these characteristics.
In 2011 it was purchased by the multinational corporation Sandow, founded in 2003 with the aim of creating a network and a fully integrated platform of cutting-edge contents, tools and services for the design industry. In 2020 Sandow becomes an official operator of NYCDesign.
MaterialconneXion means:
- 1 million members
- + 10 000 samples of products available in the library divided into 8 different categories (Polymers – Ceramics – Glass – Metals – Cements – Natural and Derivatives – Carbon-based materials – Production processes)
- 1 main office in New York
- 7 offices in Bilbao, Bangkok, Daegu, Milan, Skove and Tokyo
A board of independent experts research, select and identify the products to be subjected to a rigorous technical judgment in order to determine their propensity and characteristics to be included in the database.
A jury of independent experts select the best qualified products monthly to be included in the library and in the database, based on their uniqueness, sustainability and innovation in the applications.
OEKO-TEX®

The International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile Ecology (OEKO-TEX®) is a union of 16 independent research institutes in the textile field and analysis laboratories located in Europe and Japan. It was formed in the early 1990s as a reaction to the non-existence of reference standards and labels.
OEKO-TEX® is an independent international control and certification system, a world-leading ecological brand for textiles that carry out laboratory tests on products and processes, which are the result of harmonised methodologies based on science, guaranteeing maximum product safety and ensuring chemical substances that are dangerous for human health are not present.
Since 1992, they have placed their trust in favouring all types of textile products that are not harmful to health. The OEKO-TEX® label indicates textile products that have the guarantee of having been analysed to evaluate their harmlessness to human health as an added value.

Cosetex, a company that has always been attentive to quality, sustainability, and research in the textile field, obtained the Oeko-Tex Standard 100® certification for T.Silk in 2016. Since then, it has continued to be increasingly convinced and decisive in studying solutions that guarantee the production of products free from substances that are harmful to human health.
